Peace flows from forgiveness in
Christ.
Rom 5:1---"Therefore being
justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Peace results from undeviating
devotion to God's will.
Isa 26:3---
This peace remains in spite of circumstances. As shock absorber in a car
do not remove the stones from rough highways, neither does Christ remove
the difficulties and the disappointment from our lives. But Christ and His
peace within enable us to travel life's hard road with inner peace,
assurance and joy. The sorrows of the saints are no less severe than the
sorrows of the sinners. But the saints are kept in perfect peace because
they have Christ within.
We lack peace when we let our minds
center on circumstances. Circumstances distract, and double our doubts. We
doubt God's care when we fix our mind on the adverse, the unexpected, the
ill happening rather than on the God who knows the end from the beginning.
Temptation and trial tell us to turn our mind on God. God promises perfect
peace not to the fearful and doubting heart but to the heart which puts
all its confidence in Him.
Peace comes from confidence in
God's keeping power.
Psa 4:8---"In peace I will
both lie down and sleep; for thou alone, O Lord, makest me dwell in
safety.
What peace can exceed that which
rest in the will of God? To know that we are in the will of God means that
we are safe regardless of what happens. It means that we abide under the
shadow of the almighty. We yield ourselves to His providence.
Trusting ourselves to God's
providence does not always mean protection from danger or even death. It
does mean that we have such confidence in Him that we trust ourselves to
His care whatever may happen. Doing this we can rest, for there is no
safer place than dwelling in God's will. This is peace.
